February 15, 2010: Valentine Balloons and Renewed Hope

Dear Noah and Dylan,

I filled up your pre birth to 2.5 year old journal already.  Did not have a new one handy to write in so I'll use this notebook! As good as anything and nothing like a little recycling!
We stopped in to see you both yesterday, Valentines Day on our way out to dinner.  Your dad had a coupon for Yokahomo, a Japanese/Korean Restaurant on Rt. 28 in Lawrence, his favorite restaurant so I asked Uncle Joe to take me there.  It was great! Lots of kids there and the chefs put on a funny show while they cook in front of you.  We will take you there maybe next year!  Your mom had dropped off Valentine balloons for you both.  She told your Dad that she did not get him anything but she could give him faith that they could probably be a family again.  I guess that's better than serving him divorce papers on Valentines Day!   But we'll see where it goes.  I'm sure she's very confused about her life and what she wants.  It's hard work being an adult sometimes!  It sounds like she is seeing a therapist so hopefully that helps her figure things out and reassess what is important, and in fact, what love is.  I hope she and your Grandma can become friends again.  There needs to be forgiveness on both sides.
Your dad said his friend, George stopped over for a visit with his  new girlfriend. He's been nice to you guys and took you sledding once this winter with your dad.  When we left, all three of you were looking at us out the window and your daddy was pretending he was crying like Dylan wa the other day before when Daddy snuck out and left you both with us.  It was  a non-stop broken record, "Daddy go?  Daddy go?  Daddy go?"  Noah was fine this time and quite amused by himself with some new three stooges routine where he says "Auntie Kim, watch!" And then hits himself with a toy and pretends he was knocked out on the mattress set up on the living room floor.  Noah and I danced together for a bit in the kitchen-he was loving it! (soft rock)
For dinner I made salmon which Noah had three helpings of and Dylan would not touch.  I also made roasted vegetables and chocolate cake in a heart shaped pan.  It was yummy.  Of course, Dylan thought he was going to have cake even though he didn't touch his upper but I didn't give in to the demands.  Hopefully, I don't pay the price some day when you visit me in a nursing home.  Ha, ha!
Today is the wedding anniversary of your Grandpa K and your Grandma (Marie K)  I think their divorce was in 1988?  They married in 1957.  It took a couple years to get divorced since they separated first legally, then divorced 2 years later.
