first bonding

Hi!
I didn't have a chance to write much before since we were all talking in the car on the way to see you. we spent tow days visiting, Friday and Saturday. Saturday was really fun with Grandpa K and Grandma K and also Uncle Don and his girlfriend, Kim went in and met us all there. Your mom looked a lot better and supposedly today she is checking out of the hospital and then your dad and mom will have to figure out their shifts going in to see you both.
We have a ton of pictures and videos of you guys already! I'll tell you some of the details about your experiences in the neonatal clinic and my observations of your dad in action as a proud father- protecting you guys like a lion with his cubs- he was like the baby Nazi we called him since he was making sure everyone was washing and disinfecting in between handling you. Both of you were on open beds, all hooked up to monitors for your heart beat, etc. under heat lamps. The first time seeing you both like that was so emotional. I was choked up and crying almost the whole time in there-maybe a mixed bag of emotions: joy and worry about your condition mixed in with some sadness that your grandma (your dad's mom( couldn't be here for it all. She only died one year and nine months ago. We are excited though that the thirtieth of the month has a new meaning since she died on the thirtieth and your guys were born on the thirtieth. Her death time was about the same time as your birth time: 7:30PM. It's especially important for your dad since all these dates and numbers are much more meaningful to him. He was even impressed with the significance of the room number your mom was in, but I don't remember what that was.
You two are just 3.3 lobs or so a piece. Noah, you came out first and you are the most active one so far- very squirmy, pulling out all your tubes so all the nurses are constantly flocking to your side- quite the charmer already! In fact, we had to stop with your visitors on the third day because you got overstimulated. Also, both of you had to get treated for jaundice and had to wear these little dark sunglasses under a sun amp- very cute!
Nick was quite excited to meet you on Saturday and was already being your bossy older brother telling us to wash our hands.
When Grandpa K went in to see you for the first time, he was crying when he came out. I gave him a gig hug. He became a great grandfather two years ago of his first and only grandchild at the time (your cousin Holly) and now he's a grandfather again. It's all very exciting!
Uncle Joe and I were joking already about your personalities. I told him I felt more of a connection with Noah because he actually held my finger and Uncle Joe said, "So you're saying Dillon is a bit standoffish?" So that's been a joke between us. The next day Dillon held my finger so the bond has been made there now!!
Your dad was talking to you both and cupping his hand over your head and back and I saw Dillon grab his finger, too. He was trying to give equal time between the two beds which wasn't too hard because you just went to which ever baby didn't have some nurse or doctor examining you or taking down you latest vitals.
I heard you dad whisper to you Dylan, "I love you." I was so happy to hear him actually tell you that and I hope you both get to hear it often. I think you will!
Until soon,
Auntie Kim
