Well sobrinos,
Today I was reading the newspaper and saw an editorial of a 103 year old lady that died yesterday at her home in Amesbury. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews..nobody else...she survived any siblings and sounds like never had children or grandchildren. i wondered if she was loved by her nieces and nephews and if she loved them and remained close through the years. And I of course wondered if I were to live that long, or even close, would you be visiting me or as I joke a lot "feeding me my chocolate pudding in a nursing home." But I know that there are no guarantees and of us will be alive in fifty years, much less all three of us together at that time. We enjoy who and what we have in our lives at the time.
So how was Christmas, 201? Well, your daddy picked you up at your mom's in the afternoon on Christmas Day and drove you around while you napped, rather than wake you in the middle. You didn't even notice all the presents next to the fireplace that Uncle Joe and I wrapped carefully with green for Dylan and red for Noah, labeled from Santa. You are always so happy to see Ruby, jack and Cuddles and this visit we had a n additional guest, Caramel, the Hungarian Viszla who is staring at me right now waiting for me to fee her. After some Chinese food we had the present opening frenzy and nOah whipped through each page while Dylan lingered a bit taking each one in. You got a giant fire engine, floor puzzle, bouncy balls (you sit on them) a bowling set, a toy computer, DVDs of Curious George, Looney Tunes , Alvin and the Chipmunks, Thomas the Tain Early Reader Book, race cars, sponge bullet pellet guns (that Uncle Joe would not let you shoot in the house) and Uncle Joe and I gave you red and blue fleece bathrobes and a tote bag personalized with caricature of the two of you to use as an overnight bag. You hated the robes and refused to put them on! I got an F with that gift. Later, your Grandpa K and Grandpa k come over and we watched TV when you two went to bed await Daddy. They had stayed over Xmas eve and went to Grandma K's mother's house in Quincy the next morning.
The next morning i made waffles for the first time in about five years and the came out great! But Dylan hated them. "Me no like!" Dylan is becoming quite the contrarian. I had to warn him with setting up my time out chair for his use if need be. We braced for the blizzard prodded later that afternoon and I convinced your dad to stay overnight her again. Noah seemed even sicker than when he first got here with a consistent cough especially when laying down. I was worried they'd lose heat in Haverhill and we at least had the chimney ready to go if needed.
We hunkered down for the night with the winds absolutely howling. I was a bit nervous about the giant pine trees next to the house! Anyway, I managed to fall asleep, pretty deeply until I was woken by the three kings at my bedside around 3am. Your dad was in a panic because Noah was s"burning up.' I got a bit cranky with him and told him not to transfer his anxiety onto you both. He is such a nervous nelly and a drama king!! He wanted me to help him take Noah's temperature which we did after reading on the internet why to do for a fever and when to seek medical help/. Your dad was ready to walk to the hospital in a raging blizzard! Anyway, he seems relax a little after i read that medical help sought if you could not bring fever down, show, rapid breath, seizure, rah, dehydration, change in consciousness. The concern was the fever and the breathing but it was not enough of an issue to warrant walking or driving to the hospital in a dangerous storm. Especially since Noah ate a popsicle and then wanted to play with the shell game! Daddy's the one that needed the list to the hospital and I'm not talking the emergency room! ;-) Yikes! Anyway, the fun part was in between the internet search and the shell game..temperature taking, first orally with a fifty year old thermometer. After coning to 100 with Dylan's "help" I tried to read the bloody thing and by the time I found the silver line, it probably was less than the actual temp so Daddy wanted to rectal...yikes. i held Noahs' feet while Daddy stuck the same thermometer up Noah's butt and there was no pleasant moment to be had for anyone in the room. Fortunately, Uncle Joe slept through the whole ordeal (ear plugs) We did get a reading of around 102 but again the thing is close to IMPOSSIBLe to read. And if I forget to throw that out, remind me to never put it my mouth!! Yuck!! After the popsicle and Noah trying to squirm out of Daddy's arms to play the shell game, he decided to take you both back to bed. I managed to fall asleep again...halleluah!
The next morning we continued to watch the storm which was not as bad as predicted as far as snowfall, but certainly as windy. Noah learned to identify a few birds from the living room couch...chickadee, junco, cardinal (which he was the fist to spot) Both Noa and Dlan are still repeating almost everything with a question intonation. "That's a junco, Noah!" "This a junco?!" "And here's' a placebo for Caramel." "placebo for Caramel?' Uncle Joe loves to imitate Noah (not in his presence.)
Nap time came around noon only it sounded more like a party in there. Uncle Joe was on the computer and came upstairs and said "I don't think Dylan is ready for a nap." I just shook my head. So finally all three emerged and your dad sat in a kitchen chair and put his head in his hands in frustration. "I give up!" I asked if he always has a hard time with getting you guys to nap and he said yes, but this time was the worst. I deliberated saying anything for awhile and finally said "i never have a problem getting them to nap. They know I mean business." So he asked me to try and I said I would only if he left the house of pretended to leave house and sat in his car until I got them asleep. Sure enough, after some mil, Dylan was out in five minutes and Noah coughed, and tossed and turned bud did sleep after maybe fifteen or twenty minutes. Dylan managed to sleep through the coughing! I didn't like the sound of Noah's breathing tough and was quite glad they were going home to Momma after their nap! Daddy packed up Dylan in the carseat with his little red cap on and came back in to get more stuff. Uncle Joe and I went out to the van and Dylan's eyes were filled with tears. The poor kid! anyway, despite the storm and sickness we had a great time together! I wished we could have gone out in the snow though. So did Noah and Dylan! :-)

Saturday, December 12, 2010: Riverside Cafe and Friendly's
While the two of you are napping, I need to catch up and write about some interesting goings on, particularly an impromptu night out at Friendly's! One your dad ill certainly never forget-ay caramba!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, celebrate it on Saturday instead of Thursday this year. Your dad brought you guys up Friday night to stay over since we planned bringing Noah to basketball for another attempt at defeating separation anxiety but he overslept. So instead we went for breakfast together at the place down by Cashman Park, Riverside Cafe. We finally got to eat at the table with the benches and pillows! We tried hard not to make too much of a mess or too much noise since Dylan wanted to play his toy trumpet. After we had our very delicious pancakes, I walked over to the park with you both. The dogs were in the car waiting for us to drive to Moseley so we could let them run there. Then we say you daddy and Uncle Joe coming towards us like zombies along the sidewalk! we were running away!
You dad dropped us off at the park and he went to buy potatoes and broccoli so I could cook them to bring to Grandpa K's house. ( I cut a deal with your dad since he was supposed to bring that and he got the pies instead) Anyway, we had so much fun at Grandpa K's. Holly and Ryan were there and you guys ran around like banshees! After they left, Grandpa K pulled out the karaoke equipment and Dylan especially was in his glory He was actually singing along with the song "My Guy." We took some videos (of course.)
We drove home together and you guys spent the night. Uncle Joe and Daddy helped you take a tubby in Uncle Joe's bathroom and then we read some stories, "Too Much Noise" "Go, Dog, Go" and the frog book.
In the morning, you guys were freezing though so guess what I bought you for Christmas? Fleece bathrobes at LLBean! Poor Dylan was laying on top of the heater-all you had is cotton pjs. We keep the heat about 64 degrees at night so its' chilly with just cotton.
The big story though is Wednesday. Your dad likes to play volleyball at Pine Grove so he called me to see if I wanted to go to Friendly's with you guys. (and then I would watch you later when he went to volleyball.) So into Friendly's we go and suddenly your dad says, "Look who's here!" And there at the adjacent table is your Papa, Kyle and your grandmother, Melinda, that has stepped off the face of Earth since you were born. She did not know what to do and just looked at me, turned away. Papa and Kyle were very happy to see you and we talked a bit. It really would have been a perfect opportunity for her to break the ice with all of us and make nice but she was incapable. She could not eat her meal and had it wrapped to go. The rest of us had a great time and we ate our meal, then waited for our ice cream to go, but the waitress misunderstood and put them in regular bowls so we sent her back to pack them up. Then Noah had a bird and started yelling "Where ice cream go? Auntie, Kim, where Ice cream go??!!" over and over.... The whole scene was hysterical. Finally I took you guys to the lobby to look at the traffic outside and the toy dispenser game while your dad paid the bill with his coupons and gift certificate.

Thursday, 10:30AM November 18, 2010 Basketball and Woman on the Moon
Dear Noah and Dylan,
I am playing hooky from school today writing on the side deck in the November sun! Ruby, Jack and Cuddles are laying on a cushion right near me. They are happy when i stay home! Me, too! It thought I would take the day off because you both stayed overnight last night while your dad went to play volleyball at Pine grove. You didn't seem to care he was leaving since we were having fun looking at movies of you both on the computer. I told you he went to the store to buy carrots and milk in case that made a difference in your acceptance of the abandonment bu I don't think it mattered. You were both SO excited to come over and sleep in Auntie Kim's house! After we played with blocks I read you a story. Not picked "too Much Noise" and you both sat next to me on my new settle in the living room...a $3400 loveseat for half price! (and then you'd dad was chaining Noah's stinky diaper on it and i had to yell at hi. It was funny last night because Noah saw my mother's picture in the window sill and wanted to know who she was. I explained she was my momma and she was up on the moon which we could see from the window. You both kept looking up to see if you could see her. Noah said we'd need a rocket ship to get there. Then later when we went outside together to let the dogs go pee, you both waved at the moon! Uncle Joe came home from yoga class and read you guys a story in the downstairs bed. Then I took over and crawled in with you both util you finally fell asleep-lots of tossing and turning and whispering between the tow of you until I flipped Noah onto my other side. Soon Dylan was sleeping and Noah followed suit in about five minutes after more leg thrashing.
This morning I woke up before you and your dad and had a cup of coffee up in the loft. Uncle Joe went to work. When Noah emerged from the bedroom around 700 I heard "Uncle Joe?" about 3 tines. Finally I pretended I was Uncle Joe and answered but I didn't fool Dylan! He ran upstairs with a big smirk.. We played with the boxing puppets an we were getting so silly! Especially when the puppy kept hitting poor me! Then we did Pattycake (me and Noah) and I walked Noah on the head a few ties instead of clapping. He was screaming laughing! Dylan was more interested in building a tower with the blocks.
We sure had fun. Also Uncle Joe and I had to help you with your homework from pre-school. You had to trace your name four times. Your daddy grabbed the wrong homework for Dylan since his paper said "John." You both tried to color the pictures that began with the letter c.
I think your daddy was really happy last night because he could play with you guys while I was making supper. I could hear you guys laughing away upstairs! I hope we can do this a lot when you guys stay over!
Last weekend, Uncle Joe and I went with you guys to the YMCA in Haverhill for Noah's basketball game. Out of about 50 kids, there were only two bring, one was Noah. He finally was able to let go of Daddy and follow the coach with defense practice, etc. when Dylan joined in. But Dylan really wasn't that interested and stood around daydreaming. Finally, I took Dylan down to then playroom while Uncle Joe watched Noah and your daddy. He wanted to play with the trains. The lady told me I had to leave-new policy, no adults can stay so I told Dylan I was going to sit outside. He didn't hear me or notice me leaving because I looked up and saw hi looking around for me with a panicked look on his face. Before I could make it to the glass doors he had broken to into full wail So I went in and took hi out to see the fishes and he was fine.
After basketball, Dylan came home with me and Uncle Joe while Noah stayed with Daddy at the house to wait for Darren to come over and install security cameras. He loved riding in my car! I did a puppet show with superbly hanging form my rearview mirror. We had lunch at the house and Dylan and i took a nap together. After that, we went with Uncle Joe to Moseley Woods and walked to the river and threw rocks. Cuddles went swimming! Then we played on the swings for awhile. Its as a beautiful day!

Sunday, November 7, 2010 Halloween
Dear Noah and Dylan,
Oh my gosh-you two kids are so funny! (or as Uncle Joes says-funny when not being defiant little snots!) Ro-ro..as Scooby-Do says. Last night you cam ever for supper and the usual horse play up in the loft. Noah has Grandma K's (my mother) sense of humor. Uncle Joe made a wisecrack about how he was going to go sleep in the bathroom and Noah said "Uncle Joe funny!" and bent his head to indicate "sleep" just like my mother would have and said "Uncle Joe sleep in bathroom!"Dylan was being a brat and kept jumping up from the table. I finally got you both to eat the spaghetti Uncle Joe made by the counting technique. Of course, Dylan first had to shovel a huge mouthful of spaghetti in and look at me with it hanging out all over the place. When I said you could have a popsicle when you were done, the process accelerated and you did not let me forget about the popsicles! After the popsicles, I had you help me feed the dogs. You were quite entertained as to how all three dogs sat there while I filled their bowls, and I showed you how much I give each one. Then we gave them their medication with peanut butter and an apple. You both wanted an apple, too! You guys LOVE your apples!
Your dad wanted to go grocery shopping so we went upstairs and read books together. You picked out the potty book, Le Voyage de Monsieur Caca, The Man, The boy and the Donkey. Then Dylan made a tower with the blocks and Noah helped make a giant airplane with the plastic connecting stars. Dylan also plays with the other building set-the round wheels with holes where you push in the sticks. He also used his firetruck and the busses.
I have to tell yo about Halloween 2010, too! First of all, it was freezing cold and windy Your dad didn't bring enough warm clothes for you guys and I was freezing in my down jacket! There was quite a crew of us, me, Uncle Joe, Grandma Chris dressed as a clown, your dad with a scary mask, Uncle Joe dressed as Uncle Joe, Noah dressed as a skeleton, Dylan dressed as Dylan, Maria and her son Cameron dressed as some character with big ears like an elf, and me. I dressed up earlier to scare you guys when you arrived as an old lady. you weren't too happy! Even Grandpa K dressed up with a hula skirt on! He didn't go trick or treating because he wanted to watch football and his knee was bothering him. When we were headed back to the house I warned you guys to hide your candy from him because he might try to eat it all! I called ahead on my cell phone and told hi not to touch your candy but you said you would give him one piece.
The interesting thing about Trick or Treating was how different you both were. Noah was more focused on counting how many candies he had after each house and Dylan would forget all about the candy while he stared in amazement at all the scary houses in the south end of Newburyport. It was really neat! It was the first time I ever went tire or treating in Newburyport and i really enjoyed it except for being cold. They always do it up big there every year!
Anyway, I am looking forward to Wednesday when you guys are going to stay overnight! Thursday is Veteran's Day so I don't have to go to work. We are going to try this and see how it works out so your dad can play volleyball in Rowley with his friends once in awhile. We might sleep on the floor in the loft or maybe we'll just use the bed downstairs. It will be fun! I hope!! :-)
Love, Auntie Kim
PS Noah had his first basketball game at the YMCA yesterday and proudly showed me his shirt when he arrived (and numerous times throughout the evening) Before he left he reminded me I have to come watch him play, "Auntie Kim, watch Noah basketball!" I can't wait!

Wednesday, October 27, 2010: Crazy Tubby Behavior
Dar boys,
I had a wonderful time with the two of you today. I was sad because I didn't get to see you much on the weekend when you came over on Sunday since I was leading a dog walk on Plum Island. We all went for a ride to P.I together to drop me off with Ruby and Cuddles. It was a little too cool for you boys since you were sick, at least Dylan wa. you guys left for Chinese food without me and I went for my dog wok. Boo hoo! Poor me! But then you guys picked me up and we were talking about the zombies and scary guys in the Scoody Doo movie. You were both so animated about it and I decided I wanted to come over and watch it with you. So I had your dad pick me up at school on his way home and he wen too your mom's ouse to get you wile I went to Building 19. You were so excited when you picked me up! You had your skeleton Halloween costumers to wear for the party at school tomorrow. I had a story while your dad drove "The Voyage of Monsieur Caca" and we did three cheers for whomever we could think of. Hip-hop hurray! Son t eh house we wrestled and played on the trampoline and swings while your dad made a delicious supper. Even Noah sad "Dad, your'e a good cooker!" and Dylan imitated me saying "Mmm! Mmm!" Then we watched the Scooby Doo movie and you both sat right next to me, snug as bugs. It was a moment I wanted to freeze in time! After awhile, Dylan got restless and wanted to hug me, talk about my skeleton necklace, but for the most part you both stayed focused on the movie. Then I mentioned ice cream sandwich and I thought Dylan was going to do a backflip with excitement. I had your share one. Also, Noah was VERY excited about his Halloween costume and wanted me to see hi with it on and of course scare me. Noah was very focused on the all evening, lots of eye contact, checking in constantly, looking at me to see if I thought Dylan was funny ad Dylan was very buggy, wanted lots of hugs ad attention by being a little bratty, but not bad. I gave you both a tubby after the movie and Dylan peed in the water! Then I shampooed Noah and he helped me shampoo Dylan. When the water went out of the tub, Noah farted an cracked himself up. then you both started thrown toys at me laughing hysterically until suddenly Naked Noah started peeing all over the bathroom floor! I automatically started yelling and Noah started crying for Daddy. I put hi next to the toilet ad told him that's where he goes peeps. So Dee went over to the toilet and held his peeped theres. Nothing came out since he already did it in the but but I applauded hi for his action and he was as proud as a peacock! Noah managed to shift gears back to happy mood as we transitioned in the bedroom to put the pygamsa on. As we were getting dressed, Uncle Joe showed. We played a little and then I read some stories to everyone and we had our milk, brushed our teeth and went to bed. An hour later, you were both awake, Noah wimping behind Dylan's bed for Daddy so I brought you both out to snuggle with me and Uncle Joe.

September 30, 2010 Divorce Day
Dear Noah and Dylan,
Today was an emotional day. You both came over and spent the day while your dad went to court to settle the divorce agreement. Yup, the nightmare is over. I was very nervous for him, hoping the judge didn't make some sudden unfair rulings but it all worked out fine. The custody agreement was what your dad wanted (and your mom) and the money was divided fairly. Your dad stays in the house and gives you mom 30K in cash plus 30k of his retirement. (and the van) While they were going through that, the 3 of us had a great time here at Auntie Kim's house. Your dad dropped you off at 8:00 and I make pancakes. I had to bribe you both to eat more though by challenging you to "take five more bites". Then we packed you up in the stroller and went down Hale St., down Low St and on the Rail Trail where we walked on the bridge and looked down, then played with the train, except there was a bratty boy bothering Noah. Noah came to the bench telling me he was scared! So I videotaped the little bully in action. He was a pistol! Then we wen to the river and let Ruby swim . It was 80 degrees today! From there, after throwing a few rocks in the river, I had to use the port-a-potty (not my favorite thing to do ) so you both stayed in the stroller and held Ruby's leash together while I hopped in the hopper and hopped outside again as fast as I possibly could. Yuck! So then we went to the playground but Noah was too tired, sat down and said he was "taking a break." Dylan climbed up on the biggest slide and hung around up there with another kid and his mother. We didn't stay long because I could tell you both needed a nap. (me, too!) I sang a few songs most of the way home: Skip to my Lou, The Farmer in the Dell, The Ratlan Bog, Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. I think some people heard me and thought I was a crazy lady! So we came back to the house and changed diapers had some juice and drawled into Aunties bed tougher. I read a story "Too Much Noise" while you lay on either side of me and then when I finished we tried to go to sleep. Dylan honked out first, then Noah after imitating the donkey in the story. I snuck out and read the paper finally Noah was up and about an hour and a half later, opens the door and announces, "I'm awake!" which a big smile and wanted to figure out how to use Uncle Joe's cribbage board. i started some macaroni while he put toothpicks in the holes. Next I knew, your daddy was there already! Dylan got up soon and we ate together but he had his cranky pants on. Veronica showed up and we hung out on the deck for awhile but trouble brewed between the two of you, mostly Noah antagonizing Dylan. The final straw was when i suggested Dylan go find the To Much Noise book on the bed and Noah grabbed it from him provoking a tantrum. So the three of you left. We had fun while it lasted!
I was hoping to have you help me put out my Halloween decorations but maybe next time you come. You both, especial Dylan wanted me to take lots of pictures of you with the dogs! So cute...
so your parents divorce will be official after the 90 day period, December 30. And neither of you know any difference! If divorce could be aas painless for more kids! The lawyers even told the judge that both your parents were exemplary in the handling of you both throughout all of this.
Kids, it's been a long year for the rest of us, starting as early as April, 2009 when your dad called mea t work to see if I could recommend a marriage counsellor. but the real anxiety was the end of August 2009 when we found out your mom was in love with another man. I guess we'll see if she and him end up together. I hope your dad will fan a woman to be happy with. but right now, he is so happy he ahas you both 50% of the time. Me, too!!! :-)
Love you both (even when you cry)
