High Hopes

March 24, 2016

New chapter?  We were here (enclosed newspaper clipping about Rowley Grange Turkey Pie supper) with Uncle Joe, your dad and Diana, your dad's new friend!
Today is Uncle Don's 52nd birthday.  We are oldies but goodies!  So yesterday was very interesting!! Your dad came over with you both and his latest flame, Diana, from Colombia.  She is very nice!  I was worried because he sent me a picture of her from their first date (which was Friday) and she looked 16.  Dad says she is 36.  When you pulled up in the driveway I saw 3 doors open, not 4, so I thought maybe she dumped him already.  Not that I didn't have confidence in your dad, ha ha!  I was afraid to come out until I saw door #4 open and yes!  Still going strong after three dates!  They went out Friday and Saturday then to the Museum of Science on Monday (your dad played hooky ) and then yesterday, to meet us.  We drove to the Graf Rink and walked the Rail Trail to downtown.  It started out about 55 degrees and dropped to 40 at least.  We were freezing! We walked through the shipyard over to the boardwalk just to see it and then went to find something to eat since Diana was on Colombian time and hadn't had lunch.  We ended up at 12 State St and took a picture of the 4 of you together.  You were both so quiet, maybe dazzled by a pretty face as Auntie Susan called it.   We walked back along High St and returned to the car via the rail trail and went home to wait for Uncle Joe before we went out to the Grange supper.  Dylan went to the loft and read his book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and Noah sat in the living room with us listening to every detail about his dad's bad date stories and how me and Uncle Joe met.  She seemed to enjoy hearing them but Uncle Joe changed the subject fearing he was over the top.  So she went on about her job in telecommunications, which Joe was fascinated by but my eyes glazed over.  Your dad just made googly eyes. He is quite smitten!  I hope it works out!  It sure seems like it is going along quite smoothly!  Although hopefully your dad didn't blow it when he said "You are the most beautiful woman here" when we were with all the old people at the Grange supper.  I almost died!  But she apparently has the same sense of humor.  After I took a picture of you all, she wanted to see it so I showed her a picture of Pepito (one of the Cavaliers I take care of) and she said she looked really good.  So hopefully, I didn't blow it for your dad if he didn't!  Ha1 Ha!  On our way out the door, Noah said "How come all these old people are here?" and we were walking right behind an old man and lady.  I gave him the zip lips gesture which Dylan reinforced. When we got home Dylan had homework so Diana helped him at the kitchen table.  Meanwhile, Noah and I had a nice chat in the living room and somehow the subject of Adam and Melissa "vapin" came up.  It sounded like he was describing a bong but apparently it is a smokeless tobacco, kind of a new rage. Tobacco can have scents like clover and you inhale it through water.  So it sounds like Adam and your mom are still together, but you said he hasnt' been swearing as much.  Hopefully, everything is OK and there will be no more trouble there.
On the way to Dracut to drop off Diana at her friend's house, you guys got really silly and had everyone laughing.  Your dad called me afterwards to tell me about it.  They were asking you guys how to say some things in Spanish and Dylan just kept making farting sounds.  Diana was peeing her pants so that is a good sign!
She wants to move to this area and have a family so if this works out, you may have more brothers and sisters coming.  She is on fertility medication.  She lost a baby with her first husband and the marriage fell apart.  I could be an aunt again!  You'd have to share me, ha ha!  I would have to start a new journal to that child assuming I can still sit upright and write and not droop in a cup by then.  I do hope your dad goes too Colombia to visit after she goes back next week.  I already asked Auntie Susan to get ready for a trip in case this is a go.  We could visit Lita in Peru and then go to Colombia.
