Saturday, February 26, 2010: More Family Drama and Plenty of Fish

Dearest nephews,

Well, there is never a lack of drama in the lives of Ken, Noah and Dylan K, that is or sure!  Your mother would probably kill me, or will probably kill me once she finds out I've documented these stories for your information, but I will not share with you until you are old enough to go to war...18  and hopefully old enough to recognize the fallibility (is that a word?) of your most significant adults in your life and all humans (including yourselves..believe me, I'm predicting at least one visit to Dylan in prison after the last stint on the timeout chair.)  And most importantly your ability to forgive and ACCEPT each other for your mistakes, lapse of judgment, poor decisions, weaknesses, whatever it may be.  I'd LOVE to have some history of what went on with my mother's side of the family, not only when she was a child but when her grandparents were children and what their day to day lives were like amidst whatever forms of drama unfolded.
So the latest is that another woman called your dad and informed him that her husband is having an affair with your mom.  Of course, your mom denies it, but the woman tracked her van to his house in Haverhill and his car to her house in Bradford.  It may not be a full blown love affair but they are certainly spending lots of time together since Karino (spelling?) is friends with Nick. Anyway, this woman blames the cause of her impending divorce on their relationship and is out for blood.  Hopefully not real blood!  She did approach your mom in a supermarket and question her about it in a rather crude manner and your mom has called her to try to explain nothing is going on.  I'm guessing you mom may be taking advantage of this guy's willingness to entertain Nick on weekends when sh'e working and splurge on things like motorized cares for the two of you.  For all we know, she may still be involved with Dan, the origin cause of angst between your Dad and Mom (to put it mildly)  Don't forget, your mOm has never had much of a role model for relationships or love period, never knowing her birth father (your blood grandfather ( and being subject to a stepfather with a temper. (Papa had his days pre0Jehovah witness apparently)
While all this is going on, your dad finally sees able to be seriously nursing meeting other women, potential stepmothers for the two of you!  In fact, today, I'm hoping he'l meet me on the beach to meet a woman in my dog group.  He's been corresponding via email with a couple of strong candidates and has talked with one on the phone for an hour.  I haven't heard any updates since Monday so I'm dying to hear if maybe he already had a date with one last night even since I think you guys were with your mom.  Uncle Joe, Grandpa K and I have been his cheering squad reading through profiles of some of the women. One sounded particularly nice..there was a picture of her at a baseball game with a nice smile.  The website is called Plentoffish.com  Granpa K has been spending lots more time here since Chris has had to be in Southbridge to help Pam.  Pam just had a second surgery on her leg a2 days ago to remove more melanoma, including a skin graft  It's been quite an order.
You guys have been coming over quite a bit and we've been walking around the yard on the snowshoe tracks I made.  We have snow about 3' deep out there!  I have you follow me around on the trail to wear you out an get some fresh air.  It's been hard to exercise myself since my foot has been injured. (plantar fasciitis) and hard to exercise dogs..snow too deep everywhere and so many cold and windy days!  This has been a winter to remember for everyone!!
We often have a fir in the fireplace and you two love it, especially Dylan who likes to lay down on the hearth next to the screen.  We got hooked on a cute TV show called Shawn the Sheep.  Dylan LOVES it.  Noah does too but often request the other British one about a dog named Kipper I think.
You guys are still very hard to understand but we can communicate so much better now.  You are taking everything in like a couple of sponges!  You both love helping me feed the dogs but Dylan likes to be a wise guy and puts one morsel in the cup and shows it to me with a smirk on his face, meanwhile the three dogs are sitting, waiting and drooling...Cuddles whimpering a dn shaking with enthusiasm, waiting of re magic word "OK" to release them.  One time you guys were helping me find dog poops in the snow trail. Noah went in to get a bag as Dylan and I disappeared behind the house.  I was on snowshoes.  Noah came back out on the side porch yelling "got bag!  Auntie Kim!  Got bag!! " But he couldn't find us until we got back around the house and climbed over the snowbank to the deck.  Both of you walked along the trail, carefully looking for those errant poops we had seen...so cute!
Last weekend, you were here both Friday ad Saturday nights and then Sunday your dad mentioned going to the "bouncy house" in N. Andover.  Dylan started to get his coat and say goodbye to us!  I'd say the Bouncy House is a favorite!
